One Sheffield Wednesday star could be facing the drop after a poor run of performances.
Sheffield Wednesday will have to pull off a brilliant performance if they are to notch their second win of the season against high-flying West Brom.
The Baggies will certainly be a force to be reckoned with after winning five of their opening six games of the season, conceding just two goals in the process.
Whilst there were improvements on the pitch for the Owls against Luton Town, particularly in the defensive half, there will still be plenty of concerns for Danny Rohl going into the clash against West Brom, particularly on the attacking front.
Ever since the first game of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, Sheffield Wednesday have scored just two league goals, both of which coming from moments of brilliance courtesy of Barry Bannan.
There will have to be some proactive action taken by Rohl after the last few games, and one Sheffield Wednesday star could be facing a spot on the bench amid a poor run of games.
Sheffield Wednesday star Josh Windass could be dropped for West Brom clash
The away tie against Luton Town was a real opportunity to prove that he was able to perform at this level, however after another difficult game, Josh Windass could likely be sidelined for the upcoming game against West Brom.
Ever since the opening game of the season, he is yet to find the back of the net, and with the wide options of both Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba waiting in the wings to come in and replace the Hull-born attacker, it would make sense for Rohl to freshen up his selection and bring either of the substitute wingers for Windass.
Per Sofascore, Windass managed just 42 touches on the ball against Luton Town, and missed one big chance to put his side ahead.
Danny Rohl has to be ruthless due to severity of goalscoring issues
Rohl is certainly a coach who looks to be very calm with his players, and looks to assess the performance as a team, as opposed to nitpicking specific players and placing the blame at their door.
However, it has got to a point where Sheffield Wednesday are so stark of confidence in front of goal that they must look towards who is at fault, and the players that must be changed as a result, and the burden of that ultimately falls at the feet of Rohl.
There have been several players that have not looked quite up to speed on the attacking front this season, with Ike Ugbo also looking like a player who could do with a spell on the sidelines.
The same must ultimately be said for Windass, who could come back rejuvenated and ready for action following a spell on the sidelines, whilst giving an opportunity to Gassama and Musaba, who have spent sufficient time on the bench.
