Florida Dominates as They Advance to SEC Semifinals
The Florida Gators capped off an exceptional 2024-25 season with just four losses, including a surprising home defeat to Missouri in January.
Determined to avenge that loss, the Gators entered the SEC tournament as the No. 2 seed, focused on proving their dominance and securing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
In the quarterfinals, Florida got their revenge against No. 7 seed Missouri with an impressive 95-81 victory to advance to the semifinals.
The Gators came out of the gates with a blazing 10-0 run, setting the tone for the game and putting Missouri on their heels early.
Despite a second-half push from Missouri, cutting the lead to just four points, Florida’s relentless scoring and strong defensive efforts never allowed the Tigers to truly threaten their lead.
Florida’s offensive success was fueled by excellent three-point shooting and strong free throw accuracy. The team’s cohesive play and efficient scoring kept Missouri’s defense off-balance and ensured the Gators remained in control throughout the game.
This crucial victory keeps Florida’s championship hopes alive as they await the winner of Alabama versus Kentucky in the semifinals. A victory on Saturday at 3:30 PM Eastern could solidify their claim for a coveted No. 1 seed.
With Duke and Auburn likely securing top spots and Houston dominating the Big 12, the final No. 1 seed will likely come down to Florida or Alabama.
The Florida Gators will play their semifinal game Saturday at 3:30 Eastern, looking to secure a spot in the SEC tournament finals.
