Ryan Gravenberch was once again in the spotlight during Liverpool’s win over Wolves at Molineux
Andy Robertson took to social media after Ryan Gravenberch’s Man of the Match performance against Wolves on Saturday. The Reds came away 2-1 winners against Gary O’Neil’s side.
Ibrahima Konate scored the opening goal in the first half before Mohamed Salah put his team back in front from the penalty spot after Rayan Ait-Nouri’s equaliser. The result meant Liverpool moved to the top of the table and ahead of both Manchester City and Arsenal by one point.
Upon receiving the award after the final whistle, Gravenberch said: “Of course, this season I want to show myself again. I think I’m [going] in the right way. I have to keep going. I’m happy. He [head coach Arne Slot] just put me in the starting XI and gave me a lot of confidence – and you see it. I think I’m doing really well.”
Gravenberch continues to catch the eye, game after game this season. And his team-mate, Andy Roberston, aimed a playful joke his way by taking to his Instagram stories after the game and posting a picture of the midfielder with his player of the match award in the changing room.
Writing a caption, Robertson joked: “Give it a rest, [sleeping emoji].” Trent Alexander-Arnold also shared a picture of Gravenberch and wrote: “Man of the moment, [eyestruck emoji].”
It’s fair to say Arne Slot struck gold with Gravenberch after missing out on a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. As a result, the Dutch boss decided to deploy Gravenberch in the No.6 position.
He made his sixth consecutive start for Liverpool at Molineux and put in yet another solid performance. Next up for Slot’s side is the visit of Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday (8pm).
