BREAKING: Alabama Makes Major Coaching Move After Embarrassing Loss to Michigan
Earlier this week the Alabama Crimson Tide took the field for the ReliaQuest Bowl as a massive favorite over the Michigan Wolverines.
With star quarterback Jalen Milroe and a number of other key starters opting to play in an era where most would opt out, analyst believed this would be a cake walk for the Crimson Tide. Instead, the Wolverines pulled off their second straight incredible upset with a 19-13 win just a few weeks after upsetting the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Following the game head coach Kalen DeBoer was asked if he thought the 9-4 campaign was a “successful” season for Alabama.
“Every time you’re in the locker room and you have something like this, it’s disappointing. But I think there’s a lot of things that you take from it. I know that the guys that hung in there, that probably played their last game in the crimson and white, they wouldn’t have had it any other way as far as to show the grit, show the determination, show the competitiveness. They stayed the course,” he told reporters after the game.
“There’s a whole lot more, I just think, that really goes into the last 12 months. People see what happens on a Saturday, but it’s guys choosing to stay here, guys choosing to go from one week to the next when you’re on a little bit of a roller coaster through the middle of the season, and as long as we learn from it, then to me, then it can be a success moving forward.”
With DeBoer’s sights set on moving forward, he’s already making changes to the coaching staff. On Friday morning the team moved on from co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Colin Hitschler, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
“Alabama co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Colin Hitschler has been informed he will not return to the Crimson Tide next year. He has a year remaining on his initial two-year contract,” Thamel said.
DeBoer and the Crimson Tide will have a new look in 2025.
