Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez aired complaints over his EAFC rating, leaving Luis Diaz laughing on the floor. The Reds talisman has endured a difficult two years on Merseyside as he showed flashes of quality following his £85million move to Anfield.
Nunez has had his moments in a red shirt, including his brace in the dramatic win over Newcastle United and more recently, opening his Premier League account for the campaign with a superb left-footed effort against Bournemouth.
There was no change in rating for the Uruguayan as he remained 82-rated for the Reds. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Alisson, Alexis Mac Allister and Trent Alexander-Arnold are among the highest-rated on the video game.
Diogo Jota and Mac Allister were tasked with showing the players their ratings and gifting their teammates an edition of the game.
A clip of Nunez receiving his copy has been widely shared across social media as Diaz was left in fits of laughter following the encounter.
“Let’s see this present,” the 25-year-old began. Jota explained that Nunez was given the same speed as Diaz on this year’s game but he was soon looking to move on.
“Ok, let’s close this and get out of here,” he said. Jota added: “He’s not happy that (Federico) Chiesa runs more than him. I’m just translating. These all went up.”
Nunez asked: “How would these go up this year?” Mac Allister responded: “And what do you want? For them to go down.”
The Portuguese striker quipped: “If you like, we can tell them to lower these ratings for you.”
It appeared Nunez was under the impression that the ratings were sparked from the early season showings in the Premier League and other cup competitions, jokingly replying: “But out of seven games, I spent five on the bench,” leaving his teammates in stitches.
Normality resumed and Nunez admitted that he was happy with his rating. He concluded by suggesting Jota can increase his rating: “It could be 84, you (Diogo Jota) could put 84 (on the card).
The former Benfica striker was absent from Liverpool’s win over Wolves on Saturday evening. Illness struck the forward and resulted in him missing the 2-1 win as Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah helped the Reds to the top of the Premier League.
