Tedy Bruschi sets the record straight about Patriots and Chiefs dynasties

With Super Bowl LIX right around the corner and it being a chance for the Kansas City Chiefs to win their fourth Lombardi in six years, plus the first team to ever win three Championships in a row, there is a lot of discussion about their current dynasty and how it matches up with the Patriots.

For the most part, fans outside of New England and many in the media have done all they could to discredit and diminish what the Patriots accomplished over two decades, led by Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, which has heightened since the rise of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. That has become a big talking about this week because of what another win for Kansas City could mean in the history books of the NFL, which Patriots fans aren’t too thrilled about.

Instead of acknowledging what the Patriots did and how unprecedented it was, the conversation has evolved into how the Chiefs are better and how Mahomes has already surpassed Brady as the quarterback GOAT of the NFL.

It’s become such a highly debated topic that even current and former Patriots have contributed their two cents, the latest being the legendary Tedy Bruschi.

Tedy Bruschi embraces the Chiefs’ success, while reminding everyone of what the Patriots accomplished

While speaking to FanSided on Thursday on behalf of HeartMates in the lead-up to the Super Bowl, Bruschi was (of course) asked about the comparisons between the Chiefs and Patriots dynasties, especially since former Patriot Ted Karras had spoken to FanSided earlier and made it clear he was rooting for the Eagles this weekend.

Karras stated he didn’t want to see Mahomes pass Brady, which he must mean regarding GOAT status since Brady won seven Super Bowls. But Bruschi doesn’t feel the same and believes Brady wouldn’t either.

It’s clear that Bruschi and Brady have more level heads on their shoulders than most Patriots fans because it’s probably fair to assume that they feel more strongly about this issue than they do, likely more along the lines of Karras’ take than anything else.

While it would be good to openly embrace what the Chiefs are accomplishing and view it as greatness, it’s hard to when Patriots fans have had to constantly be on the defense about the team’s dynasty since it began in 2001.

But it might make it a lot less stressful if fans could model more of the attitude of “nothing can ever take away about the Patriots accomplished,” nor does it mean that Brady is no longer the GOAT, especially before the Super Bowl even happens. But it’s definitely a lot easier said than done.
