Ohio State HC Ryan Day’s recent admission shows the team was thinking the same thing as Buckeye Nation about the College Football Playoff draw

Ohio State rebounded in a special way after losing to Michigan on Nov. 30. The Buckeyes tallied off four straight wins to capture their first National Championship in a decade.

If anyone said they thought that Ohio State would respond in that way after losing to the Wolverines, they likely were just kidding. It was the best run we have ever seen with wins over Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame.

Recently, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day admitted that the Buckeyes’ first reaction to the draw was that it looked like a really tough road in a recent interview with WBNS 10TV.

“When we all came together, we figured we’d get a tough draw. We saw the draw and was like, ‘That’s a really tough draw’,” Day said. “We thought we were going to play one of the better teams in the SEC coming up here, we knew that was going to be an absolute battle.”

Ohio State came out with a 42-17 win over Tennessee and it was quite the statement against one of the SEC’s better teams in 2024. The rematch against Oregon was even more impressive and the Buckeyes led that one 31-0 at one point. Ohio State got revenge against Oregon by the way or a 41-21 win. Ohio State was hot at the right time and the team was enjoying getting it done.

“We were gonna take it one day at a time, one practice at a time,” Day explained. “I think a big part of the success we had is that guys continued to enjoy coming into the building every day.“

Day and the Buckeyes didn’t let down against Texas and they scored a couple of hit plays that proved to be the difference in a 28-14 win. Ohio State was not really tested against Notre Dame and the game was not as close as the score 34-23 shows.

“We are obviously biased but it is hard to say there was a better run in college football because there has never been a playoff like that before, where you’re playing back-to-back big-time games and fighting for a National Championship.”
