Texas Longhorns among four programs trending with reclassified Five-Star athlete, and a visit could be coming in the future
Star DeSoto (Texas) High School wide receiver Ethan “Boobie” Feaster made the news recently. Originally a part of the 2027 recruiting class, Feaster has reclassified in order to be a member of the 2026 group. That, of course, has escalated his recruitment in a big way.
In a recent interview with On3 vice president Steve Wiltfong, Feaster spoke about his decision to reclassify. It was a process where a lot of information was considered.
“It was really me, my coaches and parents talked about it real hard,” Feaster told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “I brought it up first. My parents were iffy on it. Once my coach told me the pros and the cons there were way more pros and my parents were like its the right move. … The pros were getting my parents in a better situation was one thing. I had done everything in high school people could think about. It was like what more can I do in high school?”
As a part of the ramp up for recruiting, the Texas star is already eyeing four schools in particular. Feaster has set an official visit to both USC (June 6) and LSU (June 20). Both Texas and Texas A&M will also be receiving official visits, although dates haven’t been finalized yet.
It’s no surprise that Feaster seems fond of the in-state Longhorns. He spoke about what makes them stand out.
Texas: “Definitely the offense. They love to pass the ball. And I love the coaching at Texas. Sark made that program have a big jump for sure. He’s a great coach and makes a team just like that. He’s a great recruiter and a great coach.”
Despite just reclassifying to 2026, Feaster is already considered a five-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite ranking. Feaster is currently pegged as the No. 23 overall player and No. 4 wide receiver in the class. That ranking also has Feaster rated as the No. 3 player in the talent rich state of Texas.
Outside of the four schools listed, Feaster is still being pursued by a long list of impressive programs. Some of his other offers include Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Miami, Florida, Oregon, Penn State, Florida State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas State, Louisville, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, Illinois, TCU, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Arizona, SMU, Houston, Cal, and Baylor among others.
Despite only being a sophomore, Feaster was a prominent fixture of the DeSoto offense. In 14 games, he hauled in 57 receptions for 824 yards and 13 touchdowns. The 6-0, 175-pound pass catcher will become the go-to wide receiver for the team in 2025.
Keeping a player like this in the state of Texas should be a priority for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the staff. Feaster is incredibly talented, and they are firmly in the mix.
