Kenny Dillingham Reveals Which NFL Team Should Draft Cam Skattebo

On Wednesday, the No. 4 seed Arizona State Sun Devils lost to the No. 5 Texas Longhorns 39-31 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, doubling as the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

However, it was a valiant effort from head coach Kenny Dillingham, and especially running back Cam Skattebo, as ASU entered the game as 13.5-point underdogs.

Skattebo ended the game with 143 rushing yards, two touchdowns, eight receptions, 99 receiving yards, and a 42-yard passing touchdown.

His performance made for one of the most all-around games for a player, and he was even named the game’s offensive MVP despite the loss.

It also marked the last game of Skattebo’s college career, and after the loss, Dillingham revealed which NFL team he wants the running back to be drafted by.

“Now if the [Arizona] Cardinals can just draft Cam Skattebo so we can keep him home, that’d be awesome.” he said.

That’s not an outlandish idea, though, because the Cardinals’ highest-paid running back, James Conner, has signed a two-year, $19 million extension to keep him in Arizona until 2027.

However, Conner has been struggling with injuries, being placed on injured reserve on Wednesday with a knee issue, and will be 30 by the time next season starts.

Skattbo could not only bring some youth into the mix but also replace Michael Carter, who will become a free agent this offseason.

Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports has Skattebo as a round-three grade, which also works well for the Cardinals, who have five draft picks, one of which is in the third round.
