Experts update Clemson basketball seeding in NCAA Tournament after Louisville loss

No. 10 Clemson’s loss to No. 13 Louisville in the ACC Tournament semifinals Friday may have cost the Tigers in NCAA Tournament seeding — at least according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm.

Ahead of Selection Sunday, both Lunardi and Palm used the Tigers’ 76-73 loss to the Cardinals at Spectrum Center in Charlotte to move Clemson down the seed line in their latest NCAA Tournament projections.

Lunardi dropped Clemson (27-6 overall) one spot to a No. 5 seed and projects a first-round matchup against Southland Conference champion McNeese State (27-6) in the Midwest Region in Denver.

Palm dropped the Tigers one spot to a No. 6 seed and has Clemson facing the winner of a First Four game in Dayton in the South Region. West Virginia, Indiana, Boise State and San Diego State are Palm’s four projected participants in Saturday’s update.

Palm has the consensus No. 1 overall seed Auburn Tigers as the top seed in the South Region, while Lunardi has the Houston Cougars as the top seed in his projected Midwest Region.

The Tigers will learn their NCAA Tournament opponent, date and location when the selection show begins at 6 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
