Texas Longhorns are reportedly viewed as a serious threat to steal a key commit from a former Big 12 rival
The Texas Longhorns could be on the verge of swiping a key commit from a former Big 12 rival program.
According to Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney, Texas is “making a major run” at flipping 2026 four-star edge rusher Tieson Ejiawoko from Texas Tech.
Ejiawoko, 6-foot-3/225 lbs from Georgetown, TX, has been committed to Texas Tech since August 16.
According to Gorney, Ejiawoko is set to visit Texas “soon”. That visit will reportedly play a big role in Ejiawoko’s final decision.
From Rivals.com: The three-star edge rusher from Georgetown (Texas) Edge View has been committed to Texas Tech since August but the word is Texas is making a major run at flipping him and there is some intrigue there.
Ejiawoko is expected to be in Austin soon and that trip is going to be big in the final decision he has to make between sticking with the Red Raiders or flipping to the Longhorns.
Ejiawoko, who is originally from Washington, is rated by On3 as the No. 24 linebacker in the nation and the No. 41 player in the state of Texas.
Houston, Oregon State, and Washington State are among the other programs that have shown interest in the under-the-radar edge rusher.
One thing working in the Longhorns’ favor in this recruiting battle is distance.
Austin is just 30 minutes from Georgetown.
Lubbock, meanwhile, is almost six hours away from Georgetown.
“With it (Texas) being closer, that’s great and it would be a great opportunity for a lot of my family to come out so they don’t have to necessarily go too far,” said Ejiawoko earlier this month to 247Sports. “But I mean my family, they support me from everywhere so no matter where I go they’re gonna show up and show out.”
Texas currently has three commits to its 2026 recruiting class.
