Duke Reacts to ESPN’s Big Announcement

The Duke Blue Devils are 31-3 and enter the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed in the East Region. Their last three games came in the ACC Tournament, where they won all three en route to a championship—despite losing star freshman Cooper Flagg in the quarterfinals.

In the ACC title game, Duke faced Louisville and trailed by five at halftime. However, the Blue Devils dominated the second half, outscoring the Cardinals 40-24 to secure a 73-62 victory.

The game drew 3.1 million viewers and wasn’t the only conference championship game over the weekend to bring in big numbers on ESPN.

The Big 12 Championship between Arizona and Houston pulled in 2.2 million viewers, a 6% increase from last year, while the SEC Championship between Tennessee and Florida attracted 3.1 million viewers—up 74% from last year and the most-watched SEC title game in nine years.

On Tuesday night, ESPN announced that these Champ Week ratings “finished as the most-watched in 6 years.”

Following the announcement, the Blue Devils reacted with no words but four of the same emoji.

“,” they wrote.

Duke will either face the No. 16 seed American or the No. 16 seed Mount St. Mary’s on Friday in Raleigh. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. ET on CBS.
