Auburn, Bruce Pearl’s NCAA Tournament Secret Weapon Not Named Johni Broome

There are a lot of challenges that will come the Auburn Tigers’ way during the NCAA Tournament. Coach Bruce Pearl and the Johni Broome-led squad will experience a plethora of confidence-shaking events that may prevent them from winning it all in March Madness. Do they have someone else outside of the superstar who can shine?

If there’s anything that the Auburn basketball squad can boast about that not all teams have, it’s depth. Coach Bruce Pearl has a lot of options who could do well on both sides of the floor. However, the head honcho posits that Tahaad Pettiford could  be who propels them into a national championship-winning squad.

He explains why, via Peter Rauterkus of AL.com.

“I’ll roll with Tahaad all day every day,” the Auburn head honcho said.

True enough, Pettiford delivered in their first-round NCAA Tournament game. In Auburn’s 83-63 win over the Alabama State Hornets, he scored 16 points off the bench. Not to mention, he also helped the Tigers by grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists.

Pettiford was the one who scored the second-most points for Auburn in this game. The only person who got more than him was Miles Kelly who put on an offensive masterclass by getting 23 points.

As Auburn’s March Madness campaign continues, Coach Pearl will have a lot more time to let the world of college basketball see why Pettiford is one of the most versatile players in the nation. Will he be able to prevent the Tigers from ever going cold in the NCAA Tournament?
