Auburn Basketball Star Johni Broome Makes NCAA History

Auburn men’s basketball star Johni Broome has had a tremendous 2024-25 season.

He’s been one of the best players in the country and helped Auburn get the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, averaging 18.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, and three assists per game during the regular season.

He’s now trying to help Auburn win a national title and made NCAA history during Auburn’s first-round game against Alabama State, becoming the only player in Division I men’s basketball history with 2,500+ points, 1,500+ rebounds, and 400+ blocks.

He does it all for the Tigers and has averaged 2.3 blocks per game this season.

The Tigers will need him at his very best in Thursday’s game since the Hornets of Alabama State are giving them everything they can handle. The Tigers are only up by 10 at halftime as of this writing.

They don’t want to become the third No. 1 seed to lose to a No. 16 seed. The Virginia Cavaliers and Purdue Boilermakers are the only other No. 1 seeds to have lost to a No. 16 seed.

Broome has already recorded seven points and six assists and is well on his way to securing another double-double. He is tied for second on the team with scoring, only behind Miles Kelly, who has 15 points.

If the Tigers win, they’ll play the Creighton Golden Eagles in the second round with a. berth in the Sweet 16 on the line.

The first round of the NCAA Tournament is one of the best times to be a sports fan. It’s a perfect time to sit on the couch and flip through a few channels since the games are staggered on Thursday and Friday.

You can watch the second half of the Tigers’-Hornets game on CBS.
