Duke’s Kon Knueppel Reacts to Historic Tyrese Proctor News
Kon Kneuppel and the Duke Blue Devils are heading to the Sweet 16.
Duke defeated the Baylor Bears 89-66 in the round of 32 after blowing out Mount St Mary’s 93-49 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Much of the Blue Devils’ success has come from guard Tyrese Proctor. The Blue Devils star has been on fire as of late, having earned a Duke record in the team’s second round win.
Proctor became the first Duke player to hit five threes in back-to-back tournament games since 2010, when now Blue Devils head coach Jon Scheyer achieved the feat, per ACC Network.
Following the historic game for Proctor, Kneuppel shared his thoughts on the Duke guard’s impact.
“What did he miss one shot?” Kneuppel said. “When he’s filling up like that, he’s super easy to play with and we’re going to win.”
Proctor earned a career-high stat line. The Duke guard posted 25 points (career high), one rebound and two assists. He also shot 9-of-10 from the field and 7-of-8 from three-point range (career high).
Kneuppel finished the game with 12 points, one rebound and three assists.
Duke will now prepare for a Sweet 16 matchup, set to play the winner of No. 4 Arizona versus No. 5 Oregon.
