From Baton Rouge to College Station: Texas A&M Eyeing Former LSU Standout

A former LSU Tiger just entered the transfer portal, with the Aggies being at the top of his list.

After entering the portal on Monday, it has been reported that former 4 star recruit and LSU Tiger Corey Chest Jr. has heard from a number of teams such as Alabama, Auburn, Missouri and Texas A&M. The rising redshirt sophomore averaged 6.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocked shots per game during the 24-25’ season, while also logging four double doubles. Chest Jr., who is known for his defensive and rebounding abilities, logged an impressive 14.1% offensive rebound percentage. When playing over 30 minutes a game, Chest Jr. has secured a double digit rebounding game in every outing this season. The former Tiger could prove to be a key piece off the bench for any team looking to go on a deep run next March.

Although leading LSU in rebounding and blocks last season will be the main draw of attention for teams in the portal, Chest Jr. took a major leap offensively last season, shooting over 60% on the year. This could prove to be a key factor should the Aggies sign Chest Jr., as shooting and offensive troubles were one of the main issues for Buzz Williams and his coaching staff last season. The 6’8”, 220 pound forward will field offers from essentially the entire SEC, as the early stages of the offseason start to creep in.

Chest Jr. will be the first of many players to enter the transfer portal, as Texas A&M will look to replenish a roster that had eight departing seniors on it last season.
