Hunter Renfrow visiting his old NFL team, eying comeback

Hunter Renfrow is looking to return to the NFL after sitting out the 2024 season.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the former Clemson standout has already visited the Carolina Panthers and is meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday. The Raiders, who originally drafted Renfrow in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, released him in March 2024 after he recorded 25 catches for 255 yards with no touchdowns in 2023.

Renfrow’s best NFL season came in 2021 when he earned Pro Bowl honors with 103 receptions, 1,038 yards, and nine touchdowns. That performance led to a two-year, $32 million contract extension, including $21 million in guaranteed money. However, injuries limited his production over the following seasons.

Earlier this month, Renfrow dismissed speculation that he had retired from football. He responded to the rumors on social media, saying, “Just when I thought about making a comeback I get hit with this bombshell…… guess I shouldn’t have started working out again 2 months ago lol.”

During his time at Clemson, Renfrow established himself as a legendary figure in Tigers’ history. He finished his college career with 186 receptions for 2,133 yards and 15 touchdowns while helping lead Clemson to two national titles. His most iconic moment came in the 2016 championship game, where he caught the game-winning touchdown against Alabama.

Now 29, Renfrow is working to secure a return to the NFL, with potential interest from multiple teams.
