Florida State Receives Great Recruiting News on Monday

Head coach Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles aren’t letting a disappointing season hold things back on the recruiting trail, as the program received more good news on Monday.

After an ACC championship season and College Football Playoff snub in 2023, things took a wrong turn last season with a 2-10 finish.

Stockpiling talent is a clear goal for Norvell and Co. to return to success on the field. The Seminoles signed the nation’s No. 19 class in the 2025 cycle and sit within the top 14 in the class of 2026 (247Sports).

And FSU is already putting together a talented group in the 2027 cycle, a class that features a new pledge in four-star athlete Kaneilius Purdy.

Purdy (6-foot, 190 pounds) committed to Florida State on Monday. Purdy, a Lake Whales (Florida) High School product, is rated as the No. 12 athlete and the No. 30 player in the state, per On3 industry rankings.

Florida State hosted Purdy for a camp in February and December of last year. He also holds offers from major programs like Texas A&M, Florida, Tennessee and Colorado, among others.

“100% committed,” Purdy wrote on X. “Go Noles.”

Purdy is the third member of FSU’s 2027 class, including four-star safeties Jaylen Scott and Mekhi Williams.

Scott, out of Williamson High School (Alabama) ranks as the No. 22 player at the position. And Lennard High School (Florida) product Williams is rated as the No. 20 safety in the class.

Florida State will open the 2025 season at home against Alabama on Aug. 30.
