Proposed Celtics trade would have Boston receive underperforming first round pick from eternal rivals
The Boston Celtics have been an on and off team recently, winning one game and losing the next. They need to shake things up, and this proposed trade by Boston Celtics on SI’s Ryan Stano could do that. In it, the Celtics would participate in a three-team trade with their eternal rival, the LA Lakers, and would receive former first-rounder Jalen Hood-Schifino. The trade would look like this:
Boston Celtics receive: Jalen Hood Schifino
LA Lakers receive: 2025 and 2026 second-rounders
Detroit Pistons receive: Jaden Springer
Hood-Schifino has basically been outcast by the Lakers organization, rarely playing at all. It’s disappointing, since he was a superstar in college.
This trade gives everyone what they want. The Lakers get rid of Hood-Schifino, the Piston get Springer, who a lot of NBA teams like and would want to trade for, and the Celtics get either a talented player who hasn’t bloomed yet, or at the minimum, a way to lower their huge payroll.
Will the Celtics consider this trade? Probably not. If they deal Springer, it’s going to be part of a package that will get some serious talent to Boston. Hopefully the C’s think of something, as their chances of going to the NBA Finals again seem slimmer by the day.
