Canadiens Have Opportunity to Claim Former Stanley Cup Champion for Free Via Waivers
We have more action on the National Hockey League waiver wire, and Renaud Lavoie was the first to break the news. As the TVA Sports journalist mentions, the Boston Bruins have placed a player on unconditional waivers.
It’s the end of the line for Johnson in Boston.
The Bruins Place Multiple Stanley Cup Champion Tyler Johnson on NHL Unconditional Waivers
See Renaud’s confirmation below.
Tyler Johnson, 34 years old, is a forward standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 191 pounds.
A few years ago, he was an NHL star, and he has recorded two points in nine games with the Bruins this season.
Last year, he tallied 31 points in 67 games with the Chicago Blackhawks, including 17 goals, which is quite solid.
In his career in the NHL, he has registered 433 points, including 193 goals, in 747 games (65 points in 116 playoff games).
Tyler Johnson was also part of the Lightning’s back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons, including their win over the Carey Price led Montreal Canadiens in 2021.
He recorded two assists in nine games for Boston after signing in early November.»
