Lakers Announce LeBron James Update Before Warriors Game

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was named to his 21st NBA All-Star Game on Thursday, the most in league history. At age-40, James enters Saturday’s contest against the Golden State Warriors averaging 23.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.9 assists in 39 games this season.

After their 116-102 loss to the LA Clippers on Sunday, the Lakers have responded with two-straight wins. Defeating the Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics, Los Angeles received 20-point double-doubles from James in each victory.

Having missed just three games for the Lakers this season, James has been very durable. This is despite often appearing on the injury report, which is again the case for Saturday night in Golden State.

On their initial injury report, the Lakers announced that James was probable with left foot injury management, but that has since changed. Announcing an update, the Lakers have downgraded their star forward to questionable.

“The Lakers say LeBron James (left foot injury management) has been downgraded to questionable for tonight’s game at Golden State,” Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported on X.

This game between Golden State and Los Angeles caps off a full ABC/ESPN Saturday slate of NBA games. The last meeting between these two teams came on Christmas when the Lakers secured a 115-113 win behind 31 points and 10 assists from James.

The NBA has been promoting the battle between James and Steph Curry, but the injury report will be something to monitor.

James and Curry are an even 12-12 in their 24 regular season matchups. Also facing off four times in the NBA Finals and once in the Western Conference Semifinals, the two longtime rivals have 28 head-to-head postseason games, with Curry winning 17 of those.
