Florida Football Recruiting: Kaiden Prothro is a must have for the Gators
The tight end from Georgia has Florida in his top five
One of the glaring weaknesses of Florida Football in the Billy Napier Era has been the recruitment of tight ends. The Gators love to run two tight end sets but haven’t recruited the position at an elite enough level to justify the scheme.
It makes the four-star tight end who just dropped his top five a must-have for the Gators for the class of 2026.
Florida Football: The Next Kyle Pitts?
Kaiden Prothro is a tight end from Georgia listed at 6’6″ and 210 pounds. Prothro is a consensus top 70 player, with ESPN ranking him 17th in the country and On3 having him the lowest at 62nd overall.
Even though he is being recruited as a tight end, his film has him lined up almost exclusively on the outside. As a pure receiver, his catch radius is massive, and even though he is 6’6″ and 210 pounds, he can still run a go route downfield and take the top off the defense. He has such a long stride that looks effortless.
We’re not saying he is the next Kyle Pitts just yet, but there is a ton to like that could make him a matchup nightmare in the SEC.
The only question mark for Prothro is his blocking, given it’s not something he appears to be asked to do in high school.
Prothro just dropped his final five schools and Florida is on the list.
Auburn, Georiga, Texas and Alabama are also on the list, so this is set to be a heavyweight battle to land him. He has an official visit lined up with all five school and will visit the Gators in June.
The On3 RPM model has Florida playing catch up, but it is still feels like anyone could land Prothro.
If you follow our content here at Hail Florida Hail, you know we don’t hype up every prospect to the moon. However, with Prothro, he is a must-have elite talent if the Gators want to prove they can recruit with the big boys.
