Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith takes victory lap on social media after blowout win over Tennessee in CFB Playoff
The Ohio State Buckeyes exploded onto the College Football Playoff scene on Saturday evening. With an “Orange Takeover” being discussed across social media, the Buckeyes offense quickly silenced any chance that the Tennessee Volunteers had to pull off an upset.
Superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith had a fantastic outing. The freshman caught six passes for 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Entering the matchup, there was plenty of hype for Tennessee Volunteers top cornerback Jermod McCoy. That was well deserved – as he was one of the best coverage CBs in the entire SEC this year.
Smith’s first touchdown did not come against McCoy, but his second one did. He made sure to keep his receipts from before the game and circled back open Twitter/X after Ohio State’s big victory.
McCoy is in no way alone in taking a loss against Smith’s talent. He’s been doing this sort of stuff to every secondary in the country this season, and many NFL Draft analysts believe that he would be the first receiver taken in 2025 if he was eligible.
Both players will play on Sundays in the future. For now, Smith got the last laugh in a battle between two impressive college football players and competitors.
