Washington’s Jayden Daniels Calls Win Over Detroit a ‘Surreal Moment’ Ole Miss Legend Credits Home State After Super Bowl LIX Win
The Kansas City Chiefs’ dynasty came crashing down on Sunday evening after a dominant performance from the Philadelphia Eagles. Legendary Ole Miss wide receiver A.J. Brown has been the Eagles’ best pass-catcher all season long and made a significant contribution in Super Bowl LIX as well.
Brown, a Mississippi native, played for the Rebels from 2016-18 under head coaches Hugh Freeze and Matt Luke, but never made as much as a bowl game in his three seasons. Now, Brown is a Super Bowl champion, and he gave plenty of credit to the state that raised him.
“I know my city is so proud of me, I’m proud to be a Mississippian, you know? Blue-collar state, gotta grind for what you want,” said Brown to the media after winning Super Bowl LIX. “I am happy that I’m from there. Because it taught me a lot; it taught me a lot.”
Born in Starkville, Brown made the trek from Mississippi State Bulldog territory to join the Rebels at Ole Miss and enjoyed a successful career in Oxford. He was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans but was traded in 2022 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Brown has now played in two Super Bowls, winning his first on Sunday. He had three catches for 43 yards and a touchdown in the win against the Chiefs in New Orleans.
