National media outlet makes prediction for Texas Longhorns’ final record in the first season of the Arch Manning era

After coming up just short of the national championship game in 2024, expectations will be sky-high for the Texas Longhorns in the first year of the Arch Manning era.

After sitting behind Quinn Ewers for two seasons, Manning will officially take over as QB1 for the Longhorns in 2025.

And 247Sports thinks the 2025 regular season will go pretty well for Texas.

The national sports media outlet has Texas going 10-2 in Manning’s first season as the starting quarterback in Austin.

247Sports thinks the Longhorns’ losses will come on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Georgia Bulldogs.

From 247Sports: Texas is getting back to the SEC Championship and this time, the Longhorns are going to end the 2025 season as league champions. Arch Manning projects as one of the statistically-enhanced quarterbacks, but he’s not going to get there until after the season opener at Ohio State. That’s a brutal game for Texas against the defending national champions. From there, the Longhorns will win eight straight to stay inside the top four before going to Athens in November for the first of potentially two games once again with Georgia.

Based on how the College Football Playoff selection process played out last season, a 10-2 record during the regular season should be good enough to get Texas into the playoff.

Of course, going 11-1 with a win against either Ohio State or Georgia would certainly make Steve Sarkisian feel more confident about his team’s playoff chances — specifically because going 10-2 could mean playing on the road in the first round. And we saw last season that teams that play on the road in the first round are a serious disadvantage. If the Longhorns can go 11-1 during the regular season, they’ll set themselves up for a first-round bye or a home playoff game (depending on the outcome of the SEC Championship game).
