Auburn Tigers have taken a step toward scoring a big recruiting win over LSU that will leave the SEC foe bitter

Auburn is looking to take a step forward in 2025 and beyond with Hugh Freeze after going 5-7 in 2024.

The Tigers already have six commits in the class of 2026 after bringing in the No. 6 overall class for 2025, according to 247 Sports. Auburn is going head to head with Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin, as well as LSU for a big-time defender.

Auburn is going to get a official visit from four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy, who is a one-time LSU verbal commitment. McCoy opened up his recruitment on Feb. 3 after being committed to the Tigers for just over a month.

“I just need to think about things a little more,” McCoy said of his decision to open his recruitment. “LSU is a great school and I love coach Peoples, so LSU is still in the mix, but I just wanted to open things back up.”

So far for the class of 2026, Freeze is set to welcome in four-star defensive end Hezekiah Harris, who is the only defensive lineman currently committed to Auburn. Harris is an in-state player for Auburn and is ranked the No. 8 player at his position.

McCoy has a big frame at 6-foot-6 and weighs 245 pounds. Certainly, McCoy will put weight on ahead of playing in college. However, the athlete is impressive and holds offers from 20 schools including Alabama, Penn State, Tennessee, Florida, and USC, in addition to the schools already mentioned.

Auburn has proven to be a spender in the NIL era and they have been recruiting well as a result. McCoy is an impressive developmental prospect from Mississippi who would be a retired add for the Tigers. Auburn is at least going to get an official visit with a chance to impress.
