Five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett will be committing next week and Keelon Russell is pitching the Crimson Tide
Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class currently sits at No. 2 in 247Sports’ team rankings with five different five-star prospects committed to the Crimson Tide.
Five-star quarterback Keelon Russell was the second five-star to commit to the Crimson Tide when he flipped from SMU on June 4 and since then Russell has been doing some recruiting of his own.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff showed they are invested in protecting Russell with the commitments of five offensive linemen headlined by five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood.
Regarding weapons, Alabama has three pass catchers currently committed in three-star wide receiver Lotzier Brooks, four-star tight end Kaleb Edwards, and five-star wideout Caleb Cunningham.
Russell hasn’t been shy about trying to bring on other receivers as well and is hoping he can link up with five-star Kaliq Lockett.
“If you want to come be legendary, you know where to find legendary,” Russel said. “I’m feeling great. I feel like it’s either us or Texas. Why wouldn’t you want to come be with the best? So yeah, I feel real good about it.”
Lockett, the No. 5 ranked wide receiver in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, will be making his decision on August 7 on the 247Sports YouTube channel, which will be one of the most highly watched commitments this year.
Lockett’s top five includes Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, LSU, and Alabama, whom Lockett all visited.
The Crimson Tide’s top two recruits both hail from Texas in Russell and Haywood and adding a third five-star out of the Lone Star state would plant DeBoer’s flag in the most talent rich part of the country.
