Frank Kaminsky sends a Greg Gard message the rest of country should take seriously

The No. 16 Wisconsin Badgers toppled the No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers in Mackey Arena to shock the pundits and naysayers. The game was amazing in so many ways, but some of the talk coming out of the game was about how Greg Gard should be in the running for National Coach of the Year.

Jeff Goodman sent out the initial social media post that went viral with the message, “Greg Gard should be firmly in the mix for the National Coach of the Year. Has done an incredible job this season.” It was then Wisconsin legend Frank Kaminsky who quoted it and added “front-runner.”

Frank Kaminsky thinks Greg Gard is the front-runner for National Coach of the Year

Gard and his staff have done a remarkable job in all phases of this season. It’s not just the wins on the court, though that is very impressive. It’s the development of the players like John Blackwell and Nolan Winter. However, it’s not even just that; it’s also the fact that Gard lost his best guards last season in AJ Storr and Chucky Hepburn, and somehow Wisconsin got better.

His roster management, in game adjustments, ability to get players to work together, and somehow pile up wins in the Big Ten should give him so much noise for Coach of the Year voting. He did this all on a season in which the media picked Wisconsin to be 12th in the Big Ten and some fans were even calling for his job. Gard has galvanized his team, and this fanbase, and now the pundits are jumping on board with how impressive he is.

When legends like Kaminsky jump on the Coach of the Year talk, hopefully, the word about how great Gard has been this year will spread like wildfire. While the season isn’t over yet, he’s done an unbelievable job.
