Manchester City seem not to be afraid to let go of some of their young players, despite having some of the Premier League’s most promising up-and-coming stars of the future on their books.
This summer alone, City have sold young prospects such as Liam Delap (21), Yan Couto (22), Micah Hamilton (20) and Taylor Harwood-Bellis (22) — who are all extremely gifted talents.
However, Pep Guardiola’s side seem to have set priorities on the young players whose development they wish to prioritise in the senior side — such as James McAtee (21) and Nico O’Reilly (18).
As a result, a sense of panic does not seem to be evident from the Etihad Stadium when they negotiate the potential sales of some of their young players.
Instead, the Sky Blues seemingly back the young talent at their disposal and continue to roll with the punches.

Romano shares what he knows about Kane Taylor and Aston Villa
While Manchester City have several players who have a lot of resale value, the stalwarts in question remain important to their success in the short and the long-term.
As a result, the Sky Blues need to find a way to still generate revenue from sales in order to make signings.
One way of doing so is being open to letting go of some of their young prospects.
It seems like Manchester City are prepared to let another one of their youth stars leave the club in Kane Taylor, who Fabrizio Romano has reported is “closing in” on reaching an agreement to sign for Aston Villa.
Romano further reveals that a long-term agreement to sign the 19-year-old is “almost sealed” as well.
The Italian journalist has also claimed the status of the transfer reads as: “Here we go soon”, meaning that sooner rather than later, he will attach his signature catchphrase to the move once the deal is struck.
After signing for Manchester City in 2019 from Aston Villa, it seems like Taylor is ready to return to his boyhood club.
A box-to-box midfielder by trade, the youngster started in 17 out of 19 games in the Premier League 2 for the Elite Development Squad last season.
Man City have other youngsters who play where Kane Taylor does anyway
With Mahamadou Susoho, who is currently on loan at Peterborough United and O’Reilly having already played first-team football for City, the club have two midfielders who could play an increased role in a box-to-box midfield role for the senior side one day.
The latter is already set to be in the senior team during the upcoming campaign while Susoho has looked solid when given a chance in the first-team as well.
As a result, it does not seem like Taylor’s potential exit will be one that will affect Manchester City massively.
Furthermore, with established central midfielders like Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic in their ranks, City perhaps felt there was no need to be worried about potentially going ahead with his return to Villa Park.
