Missouri proves to be among nation’s top teams with latest win
For the first time since Jan. 14, the Missouri Tigers have knocked off a top-five team. Missouri scored 110 points in a barn burner against No. 5 Alabama on Wednesday night.
Before Wednesday, Missouri’s season high in points against a Power 4 opponent came back in its eighth game of the season, when it scored 98 points in a 98-93 win over Cal.
It was the Mark Mitchell and Caleb Grill show all night long as the two combined for 56 of the Tigers’ 110 points in the game.
Mitchell scored 31, which was a career high for him. Grill’s 25 points were the most for him in a game this season since he scored his career high of 33 points against Eastern Washington back in November.
For the Crimson Tide, point guard Mark Sears did all he could, scoring a season-high 35 points. It is the first time this season that Sears has scored more than 30 points in a game.
Labaron Philon was the second-leading scorer for Alabama with 14 points. Mouhamed Dioubate (13 points) and Aden Holloway (11 points) were in double figures as well.
With the loss on Wednesday, Alabama has now lost back-to-back conference games for the first time all season.

Missouri has a more than favorable schedule the rest of the season, as it has just one game remaining against a Top 25 opponent.
Alabama, however, finishes the season with five straight games against Top 25 teams, including games against No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Florida and No. 6 Tennessee.
