Michigan Football ‘Leading’ for 4-Star RB After Texas Coaching Departure
According to EJ Holland of The Wolverine and Texas insider Justin Wells, Michigan football is now leading for Top-100 RB Javian Osborne. This comes after the recent coaching departure of Tashard Choice from Texas, which seems to have caused a shift in this recruitment.
The 4-Star RB hails from Forney, Texas, where he has made a name for himself as a hometown hero. Standing at 5’10 and 175 pounds, Osborne has Blake Corum written all over him; He’s small but mighty and quick. He’s ranked 60th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2026 class, in addition to being the No. 4 running back.
Why Michigan football is trending up
Tony Alford has been pushing hard for the Longhorn state prospect, but the biggest issue in this recruitment might be keeping Osborne from staying close to home. According to the On3 prediction machine, all but one (Michigan) of his top 5 schools are in the deep south, including Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Miami (FL).
Personally, I believe that EJ has been quick to make comments here recently. From Bryce Underwoods recruitment to numerous other instances it feels like Michigan football fans have been slightly misled as to where recruits seem to be headed. Of course, as a die-hard Michigan fan, I hope that this most recent insight is correct. It would be amazing if the Wolverines could close out this recruitment along with Savion Hiter.
At this time, Osborne currently has a Crystal Ball from 247 Sports, with a confidence level of 6 to Texas from Hank South. Time will tell if EJ Holland or South are correct. As always, Go Blue.
