Virginia Tech women’s basketball bracketology continues to push the same narrative

Things haven’t changed for the Hokies’ women according to Charlie Creme of ESPN.

For the last couple of weeks, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team has been hanging on by a thread when it comes to bracketology for the NCAA Tournament next month according to Charlie Creme of ESPN. After the Hokies lost to Stanford last Thursday night, it wouldn’t have been surprising to see them fall from the Last Four In to the First Four Out.

They didn’t and Creme said that they were hanging onto the final spot in the 68-team field because no one else was taking from them. That implies that it’s their spot in his eyes until they lose it. On Sunday, Virginia Tech picked up a huge résumé victory by outlasting California, 87-84, in the final home games for Matlida Ekh and Rose Micheaux. Tuesday, Creme released his latest bracketology and the status for the Hokies remained unchanged.

Virginia Tech remains on the right side of the bracketology bubble

Creme updated his bracketology on Tuesday and Virginia Tech remained the last team in his field, which continues to push the narrative that it’s their spot to lose. The Hokies have a pair of road games this week at Boston College and Clemson to close out the regular season before the ACC Tournament next week.

The Hokies currently sit in ninth place in the standings and with one win this week, they will lock up a bye on the opening day of the conference tourney. They can go as high as the No. 7 seed, but could also fall to the No. 10 seed and be forced to play on Day 1.

Losses to Syracuse and Stanford have put Virginia Tech in their current situation of having no room for error, but if they keep winning and get help from other teams below them losing and not proving they are more deserving than the Hokies, then they’ll be in good shape.
