West Brom are predicted to finish in the automatic promotion spots in the Championship this season after the 1-0 win against Swansea City, according to The Opta Analyst.
The supercomputer provided an updated promotion prediction on Monday [2 September] with the Baggies predicted to finish inside the top two after the latest round of Championship fixtures.
Carlos Corberan guided his side to a third victory of the campaign courtesy of a Jayson Molumby goal and they sit second behind leaders Sunderland after an unbeaten start to the season.
The Baggies are projected to earn around 79 points and currently have a 20.66 per cent chance of winning the league, a 41.32 per cent chance of automatic promotion, and a 39.8 per chance of promotion via the playoffs this season.
Will West Brom earn Premier League promotion this season?
Corberan has earned his plaudits for his achievements in the early stages of the season and rightfully so, with the 41-year-old gaining admirers from the Premier League.
West Brom are flying in the Championship and look like genuine promotion contenders at the start of the season, with Josh Maja leading the charge with four goals in four matches.
Leeds United are still predicted to win the title this season with a projected points tally of 83 and a 44.28 per cent chance of finishing top despite their slightly underwhelming start to the campaign, which includes a draw against West Brom.
It seems that Corberan and Daniel Farke will be fighting it out for the crown of the second tier. The Baggies have opened up a two-point gap between themselves and their rivals, and perhaps the 0-0 draw at The Hawthorns will be seen as two points dropped rather one point gained come May.
The Baggies are going from strength to strength, eager to make up for the disappointment of the playoff semi-final defeat last term to Southampton, and the deadline day return of forward Mikey Johnston will provide much-needed firepower for Corberan.
It is certainly exciting times for West Brom supporters. The hard work put in by Corberan and the players throughout the summer is paying off in the early weeks of the season.
However, the challenge is maintaining those high standards throughout a gruelling Championship fixture schedule.
