Kentucky Women’s Basketball scores historic win over No. 11 Tennessee
Kentucky had four players score in double-digits to score a big win against Tennessee.
The No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats put on a clinic inside Memorial Coliseum, dismantling the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers in a dominant 82-58 victory. It was the biggest margin of victory over the Vols in UK history.
From start to finish, Kentucky controlled the game, showcasing elite efficiency and a stifling defense that left the Lady Vols searching for answers.
Leading the charge was Clara Strack, who delivered a flawless performance. Strack finished with a game-high 23 points on a perfect 11/11 shooting from the field, including a 3-pointer. She also dominated the boards, securing 15 rebounds while adding three blocks in what was one of her best performances of the season.
Georgia Amoore and Teonni Key were also instrumental in Kentucky’s emphatic win, each scoring 18 points. Amoore ran the offense beautifully, dishing out seven assists to go along with her scoring output. Key recorded a double-double, hauling in 10 rebounds while proving to be a force inside the paint.
Dazia Lawrence added valuable contributions as well, scoring 13 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists.
The Wildcats’ ability to neutralize a top-15 opponent in such a commanding fashion speaks volumes about their potential as the postseason approaches. This victory not only bolsters their résumé but also sends a strong message to the rest of the SEC — Kentucky is a team to be reckoned with.
On Thursday, the NCAA revealed its final Bracket Preview Show before the official tournament selection, naming Kentucky a projected 4-seed and the No. 14 overall team in the field. The Wildcats wasted no time proving they were worthy of that high seed, delivering an emphatic performance against a top-tier Tennessee squad that was ranked two spots ahead in the NCAA ranking.
