Wrist surgery ends season for former Indiana star guard and 76ers’ Eric Gordon

Former Indiana Hoosier legendary guard and Philadelphia 76er Eric Gordon underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist this week and is officially done for the 2024-25 season.
The veteran shooting guard signed as a free agent with the 76ers in June, for a two-year contract worth $6.7 million. The 36-year-old averaged 6.8 points on 42.6 percent shooting to go along with 1.2 assists and 1.1 rebound in 39 games for the 76ers this season.
On Thursday, the 76ers made an official announcement that Gordon will be re-evaluated in approximately three months.

The Sixers currently sitting at 20-38, which makes them an 11 seed in the Eastern Conference standings, Philly would have to make a run to make the play-in tournament as they are three and a half games out of 10th place.
The 76ers season has been a disaster with Joel Embidd out for the season, Paul George missing tons of time with a knee inury and now Eric Gordon done for the year. Philadelphia has lost 9 of their last ten games and their future for an NBA title run with Maxey, George and Embidd looks dim already.
The 76ers will likely reset for next season with a playoff run likely over at this point. As far as Gordon goes, he has a $3.5 million player option for the 2025-26 season. Most people around the NBA believe he will opt in to his contract and not enter free agency.
At his lone year at Indiana, Gordon averaged 20.9 points (which lead the Big Ten), 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, and shot 43.3 percent from the field, 33.7 percent from the three and 83.4 percent at the free throw line. He earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year, first team Big Ten honors and was named third-team All-American.
