Where Clemson stands in the latest NET rankings as March Madness approaches
Clemson’s position in the NET rankings remains unpredictable despite its strong overall performance this season. The Tigers, ranked No. 13 in the AP Poll, enter the week at No. 21 in the latest NET update.
After picking up an impressive 71-58 road win over Virginia, they initially climbed to No. 20 but later slipped back a spot. Even so, they’ve made progress compared to last Wednesday, when they were sitting at No. 23 following their victory against Notre Dame.
Brad Brownell’s team continues to make a strong case for a high NCAA Tournament seed, extending its winning streak to six games while setting a program record with seven consecutive ACC road victories. However, despite a 24-5 overall record and a 15-2 mark in conference play, Clemson’s NET ranking remains lower than expected.
The Tigers hold four Quad 1 wins, including statement victories over Kentucky, Duke, and SMU, though losses to Boise State and Louisville keep them from a spotless record in that category. In Quad 2 matchups, Clemson is 7-2 with notable wins against North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Virginia, but losses to Memphis and South Carolina have slightly held them back. They have dominated in Quad 3 play with an 8-1 record while also going undefeated at 5-0 in Quad 4 games.
With just two regular-season games remaining against Boston College and Virginia Tech, Clemson has a final chance to improve its standing before postseason play. While the Tigers have already secured a strong NCAA Tournament resume, their placement in the NET rankings will continue to be a point of debate leading up to Selection Sunday.
