Georgia Football Gets Good News From Star Playmaker on Monday

The Georgia Bulldogs can feel confident they are in a good position to land one of the top playmakers in the 2026 class after he revealed his plans for visits.

Already seemingly in pole position to land in-state two-way star Tyriq Green, the Bulldogs are also in the mix for one of the premier receivers in the class.

They were recently named by four-star receiver Calvin Russell (Miami Northwestern, Fla.) as one of his top-12 schools.

With so many teams in the discussion, it will clearly be some time before Russell makes a decision. However, he gave an idea as to which schools are at the forefront of his mind when speaking with On3’s Hayes Fawcette in an interview published on Monday.

Asked which of the 12 schools he intended to visit, Russell initially replied: “All of them.”

But he then added: “Syracuse, Miami, Florida State, Georgia and Florida will definitely get official visits.

“I will take some others too. Maybe Ohio State. All 12 schools are high on my list.”

Michigan, North Carolina, Auburn, Oregon, LSU, Alabama and USC are also in Russell’s top 12.

It is no surprise that the three traditional Florida powers are near the top of the pecking order. Though Georgia’s proximity to his home state may have factored into Russell’s thinking, the Bulldogs’ presence on his list of five definite visits should raise hopes of them swelling their receiver ranks with his addition.

The fourth-ranked receiver in On3’s industry rankings, landing Russell would be a tremendous boost to the Bulldogs, who are in danger of having ninth-ranked receiver Vance Spafford poached by USC.

If they can avoid losing Spafford and manage to tempt Russell away from his home state, the Bulldogs’ passing game will be in a very promising spot for 2026 and beyond.
