Tennessee Makes Bubba Wallace Announcement

There are plenty of Tennessee Volunteers fans who are also NASCAR supporters. The latest Tennessee announcement should please Vols fans.

Bubba Wallace is a major Tennessee fan. Despite growing up in Concord, N.C., Wallace has a special connection with the Vols as his mother Desiree ran track for the program.

“NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace has been a Tennessee Volunteer fan all his life,” WJHL’s Kenny Hawkins wrote on April 13, 2022. “His mother, Desiree, ran track in Tennessee and grew up in Knoxville while his father is from Nashville.”

Before Wallace heads to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Shriners Children’s 500, the NASCAR driver will make a pit stop in Knoxville, Tenn.

Wallace will throw out the first pitch on Wednesday before the Tennessee baseball team takes on the Xavier Musketeers.

Back in Sept., Wallace flexed his amazing on-field seat as Tennessee took on the NC State Wolfpack in Charlotte, N.C.

During his career, Wallace has even worn a Tennessee inspired helmet on raceday.

Back in 2023, Wallace spoke about attending a Vols game at Neyland Stadium.

“It was fun, like I haven’t been to a game there in a really, really long time,” Wallace told NASCAR reporter Peter Stratta on Dec. 1, 2023. “And to see the first play of the game and the stadium that electric was [incredible]. I had chills.

“I get chills thinking about it now. …Had a great time tailgating with some of the people there in our lot. UT always treats me really, really well. So it was good. [A] good time.”
