Florida Football Recruiting: Gators projected to land speedy WR Naeem Burroughs
Wide receiver ended up being a strong point for Florida Football in their class of 2025 after landing Vernell Brown and Dallas Wilson. Depending on how things shake out this season, both have the potential to see significant snaps by the season’s end.
As the Gators look to build momentum for their class of 2026, they appear to be in line to land one of the higher-rated receivers of the group.
Florida Football: Speed Kills
Naeem Burroughs is a wide receiver from Jacksonville listed at 5’11” and 160 pounds. He is a consensus four-star, with On3 having him the highest at 20th overall, while 247 has him at 154th overall.
On film, speed is the name of the game for Burroughs, but he isn’t just a straight-line runner. He has a variety of routes from stop-and-go, to slants, to outs, to posts, to screens, and all of them tend to do massive damage.
Despite his size, he can be physical too and on the rare occasions a defensive back is in his vicinity, he does have some catch in traffic ability.
His speed isn’t just a mirage either as Burroughs boats a PR in the 100-meter dash of 10.64 seconds and was a member of the state championship 4 x 100 squad for The Bolles School in 2024.
Burroughs has a set of official visits lined up this summer, including Florida, Clemson, Southern California, and Texas. Yesterday On3 recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong dropped a prediction that he believes the Gators are in line land Burroughs.

Given the summer visits, there is still a long way to go even if Burroughs gives a verbal commitment to the Gators, but it would give Florida a boost to jump-start the class of 2026. If he does commit, he could get paired with QB commit Will Griffin.
