Auburn Star Miles Kelly Gets Major News on Tuesday
The No. 1 Auburn Tigers enjoyed a historic week, including a 30-point home win over Ole Miss and a double-digit victory over Kentucky. The victory Saturday was the Tigers’ first win in Rupp Arena since 1988.
However, one Tiger stood out this week and earned the Associated Press Week 17 national player of the week for men’s college basketball.
Auburn guard Miles Kelly’s performances against the Rebels and Wildcats earned him the honor. He helped lead the top-ranked Tigers to the SEC regular-season championship.
Kelly started his week with a 13-point performance against the Rebels as the Tigers completed the season sweep of Ole Miss and moved one step closer to the regular season title.
On Saturday, when the Tigers visited Kentucky, Kelly put on a historic performance. Kelly scored 30 points and shot nine-for-14 on 3-point attempts.
Kelly’s 30 points helped lift the Tigers to a 94-78 victory over the Wildcats, which clinched a share of the SEC regular season title.
Across both games this past week, Kelly shot a combined 12-for-19 on 3-point attempts, scored 43 points in total, and only turned the ball over three times.
With two regular season games left and the No. 1 seed in the SEC tournament already clinched for the Tigers, they will travel to Texas A&M before hosting Alabama at home to end the regular season.
