The Top 3 free agent landing spots for former BYU lineman Brady Christensen

Former BYU All-American Brady Christensen’s four-year NFL career has been poorly managed by the Carolina Panthers, in my humble opinion, since drafting him in the third round in 2021. They have bounced him from left tackle, to right tackle, to both guard positions, and ultimately to center last year. While the opportunity to play for the Panthers has been there for Christensen – he has started 30 of 51 career games – the lack of role consistency has hampered his development and impact.
Having completed his fourth NFL season last year, Brady Christensen is now an unrestricted free agent. He can sign with any team when the free agency period begins on March 12th. Here are the top three destinations for the former BYU star.
New England Patriots
The Patriots are rebuilding after going 4-13 last year with rookie quarterback Drake Maye. Pro Football Focus had the Patriots offensive line ranked among the worst in the league in 2024, and they need help at virtually every position.
Enter Brady Christensen. The downside of the Carolina Panthers having him play all five positions along the offensive line is that he never really had a “home” at a single position. The upside is Christensen is versatile and could plug one of the many holes along New England’s offensive line.
New York Giants
Several mock drafts have the Giants investing the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft in quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Teams that choose to rebuild by drafting a new franchise signal caller need to protect him well right out of the gate, and the Giants as currently constructed aren’t prepared to do so.
New York’s offensive line was also among the lowest rated last year by PFF and there are several positions that either need to be backfilled or upgraded. NFL.com lists offensive tackle and guard as two of the three most important offseason needs for the Giants, behind only quarterback. If they use the No. 3 pick on a quarterback, New York is going to need to address the offensive line via free agency. Brady Christensen could be their answer.
Chicago Bears
The good news for the Chicago Bears is they have likely found their franchise quarterback in Caleb Williams who threw for over 3,500 yards with 20 touchdowns in his rookie season last year. The bad news for the Bears is they have a shoddy offensive line that was ranked among the worst in the league last year.
Many mock drafts have the Bears selecting an offensive tackle with the No. 10 pick in this year’s draft, but both guard and center remain as positions of need. Brady Christensen played most of his snaps with the Carolina Panthers at guard while showing promise in limited action as a starting center, so he could bolster the interior offensive line if Chicago invests their first round pick in a tackle.
