Three Indiana Women’s Basketball Players Earn All-Big Ten Honors
Indiana had three players named to various All-Big Ten lists, per a press release from the conference Tuesday.
Yarden Garzon was named to the All-Big Ten second team by both the coaches and media for her play so far as a junior.
Garzon is the Hoosiers’ leading scorer this season, averaging 14.1 points per game. She recently became the program’s all-time 3-point leader, and is averaging a career-high 6.5 attempts from deep per game, knocking down 40.4% of them.
This is the third time in three seasons Garzon has earned All-Big Ten honors. She was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team and Second Team in 2022-23, then an honorable mention in 2023-24.
Also honored were seniors Chloe Moore-McNeil and Sydney Parrish.
Moore-McNeil was named an honorable mention by both coaches and media. The graduate student leads Indiana with 4.5 assists per game, to go along with 9.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.
This is also the third time Moore-McNeil has received such honors. She was named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team and Second Team in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. She was also chosen as a Big Ten Women’s Basketball Sportsmanship honoree this season.
Parrish was the only other Hoosier to be honored, appearing on the Big Ten Media’s Honorable Mentions list.
Parrish is Indiana’s second leading scorer with 12.1 points per game and leads the team with 5.6 rebounds per contest.
Parrish was also an Honorable Mention last year, her second season in the Big Ten, but has struggled to play consistently this year. In road losses to Minnesota and Michigan State, for example, she failed to reach double digits in scoring and shot a combined 4-20 from the fied.
The same has been true for Moore-McNeil, who is shooting 35% from deep on the season, but missed her last six 3-point attempts over the last two games.
Following the home loss to Maryland, head coach Teri Moren publicly demanded more from Parrish and Moore-McNeil, and the team rallied to a 20 point road win at Purdue.
With an NCAA Tournament berth and seeding on the line for Indiana, Moren will need the best version of all three of her All-Big Ten players for the Hoosiers to take advantage of this talented roster.
The Hoosiers begin Big Ten Tournament play Thursday afternoon against Oregon in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Bart Torvik currently favors the Hoosiers by a narrow margin, giving them a 56% chance of victory.
