Penn State Star Abdul Carter Channels Inner Supervillain in Star Wars Themed Injury Post
The Penn State Nittany Lions have flown under the radar for much of this season and now appear to be on the brink of a potential College Football Playoffs championship game run as they await the winner of Georgia and Notre Dame.
On Thursday, Penn State’s star pass rusher Abdul Carter piqued the curiosity of Nittany Lions fans with a surprising post on social media foreshadowing his long-awaited return to the football field.
Carter left Penn State’s 31-14 win over the Boise State Broncos with a first quarter injury to his left arm, which forced him out for the remainder of the game.
His Thursday post suggested he’s been getting plenty of healing as he shared a photo of an iconic Star Wars movie scene of supervillain Darth Vader in a “bacta tank,” designed to heal injured soldiers and warriors in the movie series.
Carter left the post open-ended with no caption as Penn State fans began to support him in his injury recovery.
“Never a doubt that you would do everything you can to go next week. RESPECT! You know your teammates have your back just as you have theirs. All the best Abdul,” one fan said in response.
“NFL gonna draft you #1 after you lead us to a natty,” another fan added.
Carter, a junior and Philadelphia native, has 40 solo tackles, 11 sacks and a forced fumble this season from his defensive end position for coach James Franklin’s team.
