5 potential coaches who could replace former Badger coach Marisa Moseley
After a long, (and confusing) day for Badger athletics, Marisa Mosely will no longer be the head coach of the women’s basketball team. After failing to improve under her watch, Wisconsin will now turn its attention to finding a new coach who can take the program to new levels. Here’s a look at five coaches who could replace Moseley in Madison.
1. Brad Fischer – UW-Oshkosh
Fischer is an attractive in-state option for the Badgers if they want to go that route. In his 12 seasons at Oshkosh, Fischer has compiled a 260-71 record, which ranks sixth all-time on WIAC’s all-time coaching list. This would be a strong hire that would hopefully help keep in-state recruits at home in Wisconsin. It’s not a flashy Power Five hire, but a lot fans could get behind this.
2. Carly Thibault-DuDonis – Fairfield
One of the best up-and-coming coaches in the country, Thibault-DuDonis would bring a winning mentality to the Badgers. The 2024 MAAC Coach of the Year has put the Stags on the map as one of the best mid-majors in the country. At just 33, she has already shown she’s ready for a Big Ten job after lifting Fairfield into new heights.
3. Molly Miller – Grand Canyon
Miller will be a highly sought-after coach this offseason after leading the Antelopes to a 28-2 record and a WAC title. She comes from another mid-major, but brings a ton of success, going 113-37 in her five seasons at Grand Canyon. Wisconsin will face some serious competition for Miller, but she should be one of the first phone calls the Badgers make.
4. Morgan Paige – Kansas
Paige was a standout player for the Badgers from 2010-2014. She was the 23rd player in Badger history to record 1,000 career points. Paige has spent the last four seasons on the Kansas Jayhawk staff, including last year as the Associate Head Coach. Wisconsin could bring back a familiar face to the program, and it would generally be well received by fans.
5. Kayla Karius – UW-Green Bay
Another in-state option, Karius was a former Badger assistant from 2018-2021. She now heads up the UW-Green Bay program, which went 27-5 in her first season at the helm. It would be another nice option for the Badgers looking for a familiar face who can recruit locally. The Sheboygan native has won at every stop, although it would be hard to tear her away from her alma mater.
