The Football Association have reportedly made contact with Blackburn Rovers to investigate a biting incident involving Liverpool’s Own Beck.
The left-back is on loan at the Championship side and was embroiled in a major situation during a 0-0 draw against Preston in the Lancashire derby on Sunday. Beck kicked out at Lilywhites midfielder Duane Holmes in the closing stages, which earned him a red card for violent conduct. But as a melee ensued before Beck was sent off, earning him a three-game ban, he was grabbed by Preston’s Milutin Osmajic – and left with a bite mark. Beck protested to the match officials afterwards and at full-time.
In a statement, the FA said: “We’re aware of this incident and will be looking into it.”
The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Blackburn have indeed been contacted by officials from the FA. Rovers are assisting with the situation and Osmajic faces a lengthy ban should he be charged
Beck was making his third appearance for the Ewood Park outfit after joining in the closing stages of the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old has impressed so far and built on from his eye-catching loan spell at Scottish club Dundee last term.
Blackburn manager John Eustace said: “He’s got a big bite mark on the back of his neck. It’s a shame the referee didn’t see that as well. He’s got a big bite mark. He has been in and shown the lads. He’s very disappointed to be sent off and you don’t expect him to have that either.
“He’s a bit quiet in there and a bit shaken up. I don’t know if he spoke to the referee, I’m not sure if it was before or after the red. He might want to speak to the officials about it.
“It’s a very serious incident, nobody likes to be bitten. Everyone is angry about it, it’s not a nice situation to be in. I’m sure the right people will see it and deal with it. The way the second half went, Preston managed the game very well. I think the referee got sucked into the cheap fouls and the yellow cards.”
