The best player for Wisconsin WBB is in the portal: Brutal loss for the Badgers
There’s an argument to be made that Serah Williams is the best women’s basketball player to ever put on the Wisconsin Badgers uniform. She’s been elite not just for the Badgers but truly across the landscape of women’s college basketball. In her three years in Madison, she has been a joy to watch and root for. There was concern, with or without Marisa Moseley, that Williams would jump into the portal and use her fourth season of eligibility to play for a contending team.
Now that Marisa Mosely is definitely gone and the team is going into rebuild mode with a new coach, Williams has officially entered the transfer portal and will be wearing a different uniform next season.
Thank you Coach Mo and coaching staff for the past 3 years
Thank you Wisconsin and the Badger community for all of your support. I’m super blessed and grateful
With that being said, l’ve decided to enter the transfer portal❤️— Serah Williams (@SerahWilliams25) March 12, 2025
Wisconsin’s Serah Williams announced that she has entered the transfer portal
Williams was one of the best players in the nation last season. She was 27th in points per game at 19.2, 28th in rebounds per game at 9.8, and tied for 27th with the most double-doubles. Each season she has gotten better in Madison and this year was more of the same as she increased her stats in about every single category.
While Wisconsin fans knew that players would be departing after the exit of the head coach, Marisa Moseley, watching the stars move along is hard. Especially a star like Williams who has only ever worn Wisconsin red and has done it now for three seasons. It will be weird to see her in any other uniform.
Williams is the second player to enter the transfer portal today, following star center Carter McCray. McCray also announced on social media that her time in Wisconsin had come to an end and that she was moving on to a new home.
Next year’s roster will look different in many ways, from the coaches walking the sidelines to the players in the game. The new coach’s task is a big one.
