Big 12 Women’s Basketball Program Battling with SEC Program for Coaching Candidate

The Arizona State Sun Devils are searching for a new women’s basketball coach after Natasha Adair was let go last week following the Big 12 women’s basketball tournament.

And as they look for a replacement, the Sun Devils may be battling with an SEC program for their next head coach.

Arkansas reporter Michael Main shared on X that Arizona State and Arkansas are both hoping to land their top candidate, Grand Canyon’s Molly Miller.

Miller has had success winning 20+ games in four of five seasons. Both programs have unique angles to play. Arizona State can pitch that it’s right down the road from where she currently coaches in Phoenix. Meantime, Arkansas can play the hometown ties, since she is from up the road in Springfield, Missouri.

Either way, Arizona State is looking to turn around the program after a rough stretch under Adair.

Adair struggled in Arizona State’s first season in the Big 12, with the Sun Devils finishing with a 10-22 record overall and 3-15 in Big 12 play. Arizona State’s season ended last Thursday in the second round of the Big 12 women’s basketball tournament, falling to Iowa State 82-75. Adair didn’t have much success with the Sun Devils, as her career in Tempe will wrap up with a 29-62 record.

She finishes her time at Arizona State with a conference record of just 7-47 between two seasons in the Pac-12 and one in the Big 12.

The Sun Devils haven’t made an NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019.
