The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming at history this season in an attempt to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

After clinching the AFC West, a postseason berth and the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs on Christmas Day, they’ll have a week off before their next game on either Jan. 18 or 19.

It’ll be a time of rest for some on the injury report, as well as the aging players – like tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce, now 35, is having his worst statistical season since 2015 with 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns.

Thankfully, according to The 33rd Team, the Chiefs might find a suitable Kelce replacement in April’s NFL Draft in Michigan Wolverines tight end Colston Loveland.

“Kansas City has been willing to find ways to make the wide receiver room work each year, but its investment in the tight end room has been a much more central focus,” Crabbs wrote. “Travis Kelce is irreplaceable — but that shouldn’t stop the Chiefs from trying to ensure they are as well equipped for the future without him as they possibly can be.

“That means Colston Loveland, the hybrid flex tight end out of Michigan, could make some sense.”

The Gooding, Idaho, native has been an important piece of the Wolverines offense for two seasons and was named First-Team All-Big Ten in 2023 – the Wolverines’ National Championship season – and Second-Team All-American last season.

The 6-5, 245-pound Loveland has posted 117 catches for 1,466 yards and 11 scores in three years at Michigan.

There is some work to be done before that time comes, however, as Kansas City will resume action in the Division Round of the NFL Playoffs against the lowest remaining seed.
