Castleford Tigers fans are outraged after controversial decision in Super League clash against Hull FC
Castleford Tigers fans have shared their outrage after a controversial moment in their Super League clash against Hull FC.
Ahead of kick-off, Hull FC announced that star forward Herman Ese’ese had extended his contract with the club for another three years.
And it was Ese’ese who scored the first try of the game, as the Black and Whites took an early lead in the Super League clash against the Castleford Tigers.
The two sides traded tries before a moment of controversy prompted a furious response from the Tigers’ fans. Castleford forward, Daniel Okoro, was penalised for an incorrect play-the-ball. However, replays showed that this was a harsh call.
The anger of the Castleford fan base was further fuelled. Hull scored from the next set to open up an 18-6 lead at half time. This sent the Tigers fans into meltdown, and they were quick to vent this on social media.

Castleford Tigers slam refereeing decision in Super League clash
Posting on social media site X (formerly Twitter), numerous Castleford fans shared their frustration that Okoro was penalised, leading to FC’s try.
One fan questioned the call against the Tigers substitute, posting: “Absolutely shocking decision, didn’t fall over, played the ball with his foot”
This view was backed by another Tigers fan, who wrote: “Captains challenge… nah can’t be a—-… how come ref notices interference on Hull’s play but not Castleford’s?”
Several Castleford fans questioned the decision not to use a Captain’s Challenge on the call against Okoro, as one fan argued: “Are we stupid, why no challenge? It was fine. 30 seconds later, they score. Turned it off”
Another fan called for Sam Wood to be stripped of the Castleford captaincy, stating: “Need Wood to be relieved of captaincy. All the players are saying challenge, he ignores them. They go up and score. Danny McGuire’s choice what a f—— joke.”
Referee Liam Moore did not escape the ire of fans, with one fan adding: “Poor defence but that one goes to Liam Moore – can hear Moore saying to Wood he didn’t challenge the play the ball decision – call it right in the first place – terrible ref.”
Hull KR Elliot Minchella blames refereeing error against Daniel Okoro
Appearing as part of the Sky Sports commentary team for the game, Hull Kingston Rovers captain Elliot Minchella stated his belief that the referee made a mistake in penalising Okoro.
According to Minchella, Okoro will be having a word with his captain at half time to let him know that he should have backed him with a challenge.
Minchella said: “Look, it’s a refereeing error for me. Dan Okoro was absolutely adamant about challenging it, but Sam Wood didn’t go with it. I’m sure Dan Okoro will be having a word with him in the changing rooms now at half time.”
The KR captain believes the decision was crucial in FC’s final try of the first half. He added: “It gave Hull FC the field position, gave them back the momentum, and they went the other end of the field and capitalised.”
