Everyone’s Saying the Same Thing About Quinn Ewers After Carson Beck’s Transfer Decision

On Thursday, the sport of college football was thrown for a loop following a decision by Georgia’s Carson Beck.

After declaring for the NFL draft on Dec. 28, Beck entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag, which likely means he has a destination picked out. ESPN’s Pete Thamel tabbed Miami as the favorite to land him, while On3’s Pete Nakos also threw Texas Tech and Ohio State into the mix.

However, while many fans are talking about where he’s going, there seem to be twice as many who are talking about how this impacts Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers. The three-year starter in Austin is reportedly set to be NFL-bound after the season, but with Beck opting to transfer and set to become one of the highest-paid transfers ever, it has led to many thinking that Ewers may do the same.

“If Carson Beck did it. Quinn Ewers is for sure going enter portal if Texas doesn’t win a natty,” wrote one fan.

“I can easily see Quinn Ewers going to Notre Dame. Carson Beck going to Miami. both will set NIL records – could we see $5million for the 2025 season,” asked another user.

“Next year’s playoff, could we see: Oregon QB Quinn Ewers vs Miami QB Carson Beck,” questioned a third.

“Quinn Ewers gonna be entering the transfer portal soon too (Oregon),” commented another.

If Ewers wanted to enter his name into the transfer portal, there’d certainly be a market. A report in Dec. revealed that he had an alleged offer of $6 million to return to college in 2025, and enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. Now, with Beck leaving the draft class, there’s one less quarterback Ewers would have to compete with for positioning in what is widely viewed as a weak quarterback class.

A return to college for Ewers could be a high-risk, high-reward kind of move. He has dealt with injury issues dating back to his time as a five-star at Southlake Carroll, so another season puts him at more risk of falling lower in what is expected to be a loaded 2026 class. On the contrary, a healthy and potentially dominant season could get him back in first-round discussions.

Regardless of what fans have to say, Ewers and Texas are likely more so focused on their Friday matchup with Ohio State in the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff.
