Prominent ACC Program ‘Looms’ As Favorite to Land Former Georgia Quarterback
An intriguing twist unfolded on Thursday afternoon as former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck, initially expected to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, reportedly withdraw his name from the draft with the intention of returning for one more season of college football.
However, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Beck is transfer from the University of Georgia after spending the last four seasons with the program. Beck was unable to compete in the College Football Playoff due to a season-ending shoulder injury sustained in the SEC Championship Game against Texas.
With potential suitors already rumored, Thamel reported that one program has emerged as the favorite to land Beck: the Miami Hurricanes from the ACC, who will be looking to replace star quarterback Cam Ward.
Nonetheless, Beck is expected to weigh all of his options, with other programs like Ohio State and Texas Tech also expressing interest in landing him for one season. The growing expectation is that he will make a decision within the next week.
Due to his injury, however, Beck is not expected to be ready by spring, as he won’t be able to begin throwing until March. Still, he is expected to be fully prepared by the time summer camp begins for whatever program he elects to transfer to.
Beck has thrown for over 3,400 passing yards in each of the last two seasons. He has totaled 52 passing touchdowns and just 18 interceptions during his tenure as a starter.
However, Beck led the SEC in interceptions this season, which contributed to his draft stock taking a slight hit after he was initially projected as one of, if not the top quarterback, in the 2025 draft class.
